Wuxi, the pearl of Taihu Lake, is located in the south of Jiangsu Province, exactly in the center of the Yangtse Delta, which is known for its beauty and richness. The pleasant weather, abundant resources, and fine scenery all make it one of the most important tourist cities in China. The Grand Canal, which enjoys equal popularity with the Great Wall, runs through the city of Wuxi from north to south. Rowing a boat on the canal, one can have a taste of the folk customs of the water dwellers.
The Meiliang scenic spot, 7 kilometers away from the downtown, is the cream of the Taihu Lake. The endless blue waves, scattered sailing boats and the lake and mountains all make one lost in the scenery. The grand rock “Yuan Tou Zhu”, shaped like the head of a turtle, oversees the mist-covered lake, is praised as the “crown of Taihu Lake” by Guo Moruo, a famous Chinese poet. |
